Get your nutrition back on track

What did you have for breakfast this morning? What are you planning on eating for your lunch? Chances are you’re already several weeks into your 2018 race plan and you’re ticking off some quality base training sessions.

If your answer to the breakfast question was half a cup of coffee and a digestive biscuit and your lunch plans are no better, you can’t expect your body to perform at its best so perhaps it’s time to consider embarking on our six-week TCUK nutrition course.

“If you’re struggling to maintain your energy levels now, that doesn’t bode well for the forthcoming season and your training plan intensifies,” explains Jon Hodgkinson, TCUK nutritionist, personal trainer and founder of Real Food Func.

“Fuelling our bodies correctly is key to improving performance on race day and ensuring you are fit, healthy and ready to take on those threshold runs and interval bike and swim sets. Many TCUK athletes signed up to the six-week nutrition course last year and all of them saw distinct changes and advances.”

Here’s what #TeamTCUK athlete, Neil Evans had to say about the nutrition course…

Q: What was the main thing you were struggling with before you began working on your nutrition with Jon?

A: Keeping my energy levels constant throughout the day.

Q: Has working with Jon helped you get closer to where you want to be?

A: Yes. I can now balance my energy levels and build meal plans. I have also lost 4kgs!

Q: How did you accomplish this?

A: Jon showed me several ways to get the correct balance of carbs, proteins and fats. He also explained the inner workings of the body and the effects food has on it. Plus, with the knowledge of how to build meals plans, I am a lot more confident in my training.

Q: is there anything you would add to the course?

A: Nothing at all, the six-week program was very comprehensive.

Q: How do you feel after taking the course?

A: I am very happy - Jon did an amazing job, thank you!

And to prove how good he feels (and looks!) here's Neil crossing the finishing line at his last race with his two daughters.
