Guest blog post: 'Buzzing about Triathlon' by Amelia Pearson

For the last two summers #TeamTCUK athletes have descended on the beautiful town of Morzine in the French Alps for a training camp to remember with Buzz Performance. Co-owner of Buzz Performance, Amelia Person explains what you can expect if you fancy joining us next year for some unforgettable swim, bike and run (and socialising!) triathlon training experience!

"We are Amelia & Joe Pearson, owners & operators of Buzz Performance based in Morzine France. We are passionate about fitness, sport and a healthy lifestyle and aim to inspire and empower others to become the best version of themselves.

"When I retired from competing in triathlons at the elite level we wanted to try something different from living and working as teachers and coaches in Tasmania, Australia.

"Morzine was one of the best places I had visited whilst racing and training around the world. A great pool and lake for swimming, stunning cycle routes and gorgeous running trails, that combined with being only an hour from the Geneva Airport ticked all the boxes for a perfect base.

"We now spend our summers hosting triathlon and cycling holidays for those who want to come and experience this great area for themselves.

"Our holidays are as unique as triathlons themselves. Each week is a little different depending on particular needs, goals and fitness levels of the participants. Hosting Matt Sanderson and the groups from Triathlon Coaching UK is a highlight of our summer. Together we develop a challenging schedule and everyone gets the opportunity to improve technique, endurance and triathlon performance, no matter what their level of ability.

"We love what we do and we hope that transpires to what we offer our guests. It’s like being a professional triathlete for a week but better. Not only do you get to train, eat, sleep, repeat but accommodation is in a luxury alpine chalet with a chef cooking breakfast and dinners. There is also time to relax and socialise too. Being around like minded people helps inspire and motivate. Triathlon is a tough sport and we believe everyone is a winner just by taking part. Other people’s stories and experiences are extremely interesting and there is always something to learn.

"Someone once told me that there are many people out there wishing that they could do a triathlon and that I was lucky to be able to be able to do a sport I loved so much. Being involved in sport has taught me so much and helped me to develop many skills such as resilience, work ethic and compassion. I worked hard to swim, cycle and run the best that I could. I didn’t care if I didn’t win, I loved doing it and it made me happy. Happiness can lead to success. By concentrating on the process the result takes care of itself. Of course, there are tough times, but there are with everything. If the positives outweigh the negatives and you are doing your best you should always satisfied. Striving for further improvement is increased motivation to be the best you can be, and for us that’s what it’s all about.
